2-year-old appeared to be high on heroin when mother arrested
EVERETT, Wash. — Police said the 2-year-old son of a woman who was arrested on drug charges appeared to be under the influence of heroin.
A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office document said the woman was a passenger in a car Thursday night when her boyfriend was arrested in Everett on a warrant and other charges.
The officer said during man’s arrest on Interstate 5 at Marine View Drive, he saw drug paraphernalia in 22-year-old Camie Bena’s purse.
The officer said he removed Bena from the car and took her into custody for investigation of possession of heroin and reckless endangerment. He then retrieved a needle loaded with heroin and other heroin paraphernalia from her purse, documents said.
“She was extremely high, (had) constricted pupils and (was) very lethargic,” the deputy wrote in the probable cause document.
Police said Bena’s 2-year-old son was in the back seat and appeared to be very lethargic and under the influence of a drug.
Medics who were called to the scene transported the boy to the Everett campus of Colby Hospital because they suspected he was high on drugs, documents said. Read more: KIRO News
